Yeshiel Panchia is a freelance journalist working in text, photography and video, currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

He regularly supplies multimedia stories to European Pressphoto Agency (EPA), The Associated Press (AP), Reuters, Xinhua and Liberation. He also produces for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and writes for Forbes Africa, Al-Jazeera English and iNews, amongst others – you can read some articles by clicking the publication links.

His reporting interests include breaking news, investigative reporting, as well as climate and economics. In 2019 he won the Isu Elihle Award for child reporting alongside colleague Jamaine Krige for work on child statelessness in South Africa.

Yeshiel also works in commercial photography and videography, having produced regular work for Discovery Health , Investec and the United Nations among others.
